Revolutionary Sports Driver Sam Albert to Debut at STPR 2012

Thursday, May 17, 2012

Eastern Regional Driver Sam Albert will be competing at his first Rally America event at this year’s Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally (STPR) in Wellsboro, PA. He will be accompanied by codriver George Loef who competed as a codriver in the 2011 series at STPR and New England Forest Rally.

Sam has competed in NASA Rallysport and the Canadian Association of RallySport since 2010 in his open class 2004 Subaru STi. He is coming off a 2nd Place overall finish at Black River Stages 2011 with George in the codriver’s seat. Sam and George go back to Rallye de Charlevoix 2010 where George was his crew chief for the race. George first joined him as codriver at last year’s Hyperfest Rallysprint and they have competed together since then.

Their Subaru just received a major upgrade with a new standalone ECU and oil cooler. They’re hoping these upgrades will help them be more competitive and solve some reliability problems they had with their motor in the past.

Together, under the team name of Revolutionary Sports, Sam and George look to be top regional contenders in Rally America and eventually compete in the national series. “This is a major step for me to compete in Rally America,” says Sam who is looking to make his mark in the North American rally scene, “I think we have the talent but are lacking in time and resources.”

Sam and George are both active duty members in the US Armed Forces serving in the Army and Navy respectively. They were originally planning on attending Sno*Drift but changes to Sam’s training schedule forced them to withdraw. “It’s tough not being able to commit to a full season,” notes Sam, “it would be a dream come true.”

The one thing that keeps them going though is their passion for the sport. Like many rally teams, they have faced their fair share of challenges but overcame them against the odds. Being a novice team they have had to learn many hard lessons about motorsports but found help from other more experienced teams. “I’m impressed with how far we have come in the last two years. We’ve learned so much about proper setup and preparation in the last couple years. Hopefully the mechanical problems we’ve had will now be behind us.”

Revolutionary Sports would like to thank its fans for all of their support, fellow racers for their help, and all of the volunteers and event organizers that make these rallies happen. They would also like to thank Competition Motorsports Solutions for the fabrication and crew support they are providing this year.

To follow Revolutionary Sports as they battle their way through the season check out their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/revolutionarysports

So last month, a couple of friends were pulled over for "laying drags" on Satellite Blvd by Gwinnett Police.
Ridiculously, I was also pulled over for the same thing. My friends up front, in a 2008 2.5 Altima 4D and a 2012 Hyundai Elantra, did get on the gas heavily at the light. The Altima made wheel noise and the Elantra blew a shit ton of white smoke through its exhaust, which I was behind of and drove through.
The Gwinnett cops were not actually there when the light turned green and saw the smoke and heard the tire squeal as they came over the hill and busted a U turn.
My friends accelerated up to 40mph and stopped. I caught up to them and was right behind my friend in the Elantra.

I was pulled over because I ran through smoke that came through my friend's car and may look the part to be a "street racer", ie painted wheels.

Apparently, "laying drags" in Georgia is not defined as make a shit ton of noise and smoke at a light or on public roads. It's actually defined as zig-zagging on the road or just generally making an ass of yourself.

Court date is next week. Any suggestions on how I should defend myself? I was wrongfully pulled over and was never given the chance to tell the officers what happened.
